Abominominous

ABOMINOMINOUS
In late 2003, I heard about the online songwriting competition, SongFight, and decided to give it a shot. I needed a band name to submit my entry under, bluster be dammed. This was also my first year of posting comics on the internet & the first strip featured a vector-drawn metalhead named Webster Hogan trying to book a show for his one man act, Abominominous (an ambitious portmanteau of “abominable” and “ominous”). Six years and over 50 songs later, I’m still trying to live up to the name. What’s in a name anyways?

So, basically, these are all songs by me, Phil Redmon.

A tender nod to obsolescence. The future won’t rest til’ every page is a screen. “TLDR, my eyes have got somewhere to be.”

I think Mountain Dew is probably the ultimate in sodapop. It doesn’t mess about with any pretense. It is bright green sugar designed to jack you up. Good work.

An attempt at motivational assurance. “A lot of reasons not to write a love letter to life…” but you gotta try.

The Edge With Jake Sasseville
The Edge is a television show I wrote some music for. If you’re lookin’ for something to watch on a Sunday night, check your listings, dummy! By which I mean: This might be on.
These were intended as background pieces, so it’s mostly grinding on a riff or two for a minute or two. Maybe that’s your thing? If so, here’s a heapin’ helpin’ of that thing.
